Action packed holidays that embrace every ability

What Happens on a Holiday

Junior

Monday saw us spend the day with Everton Football Club where we had a sports session with some of their disability outreach coaching staff, which involved some football and basketball skills being showcased.

We then had a tour of Goodison Park, the home of Everton followed by photographs overlooking the pitch.

Venture

On Thursday, we visited Blackpool where many of us wore the t-shirts we had spray painted on Monday night, displaying our personalised superhero logos! We spent the first part of the day on the beach playing ball games, flying kites and paddling in the water.

We then visited Illuminasia which is the World"s largest indoor illuminations show. The whole camp put on an impromptu performance of the YMCA as well as doing the conga throughout the exhibition. We then had dinner out at Pizza Hut before heading back to Bendrigg, just in time to have a pyjama party film night and eat lots of popcorn.

Breakfree

Our final full day at the centre started with a musical parade through the centre. We marched along the decorated hallways with shakers and drums that we had made to announce the start of our medieval tournament!

Our skills were tested in a variety of knightly tasks including horse racing, target practice, jousting, potion making and a tug of war. Our volunteers got a soaking in the stocks which all of the children found very funny!

Breakfree

We took a short flight over to Hawaii where everyone was dressed in shorts, t-shirts, leys and sunglasses, despite the rainy weather. We then headed to Cheshire Ice cream farm where we could pick from over 40 amazing flavours as well as seeing farm animals and playing on the adventure play ground.

That evening we had a bed time story about travelling around the world on planes, trains and buses, dancing and singing to tradition music from around the world.
