Venture Camp 2008

Having practically scaled the mountains of Scotland last year, Venture Camp returned to the Lake District this summer. Bendrigg Lodge was once again an excellent place to stay, making all activities possible and challenging for everyone.

The new climbing room had routes that even our most seasoned campers had a hard time overcoming, whilst our wheelchair users found that a chair was no obstacle to climbing to the top of the room or doing the outdoor cliff abseil. Caving was no different, with Bendrigg boasting its own indoor caving system – a maze of passageways and dead-ends that all could enter and find their own route through.

As well as a trip to the local zoo and swimming pool we also took a lake cruise and had our own carriage on the Lake District’s steam railway. The theme of the week was outer space and the costumes lived up to the name on the last night party. We also saw a different side to everyone on Tuesday night’s talent evening which everyone took part in – ably proving that PHAB’s Got Talent!
