Junior Camp 2008

Junior Camp had an amazing week at the Wingate Centre. There were a number of highlights; for many the best was the water fight that included getting to soak all of the volunteers and being able to throw custard at them! The water was absolutely freezing but having custard that was still warm thrown at you made it slightly more bearable!

We had a couple of big days out, one of which was visiting Knowsley Safari Park. Everyone appeared to enjoy looking at all the different animals, and despite the rain they were all fairly active. One minibus almost got barged out of the way by a big buffalo that decided we were in their way!

Other highlights of the week included visiting the Blue Planet and watching the sharks being fed and getting to stroke the big rays. Jason took this a little further and decided he wanted to get in to the tank with the rays, but was fortunately persuaded otherwise before he managed to submerge himself totally in water!

We did a number of activities at the Wingate Centre including arts and crafts where all of the children produced some amazing t-shirts and everyone wrote a postcard home. The whole Camp was a great success and everyone had a really good time, bring on 2009!’
