Breakfree 2 Camp 2007

Breakfree 2 did not escape the usual Camp traumas of tears, frayed nerves, tensions and overtired emotions. However all these tensions and tears were nothing that could not be sorted out, and looking back now it can comfortably be said that the Camp was a huge and roaring success.

The Camp started with the usual mania that is Aston University car park, the children and the bags arrive with excitement, to be met with a group of very eager and fairly nervous volunteers, and as the coach pulls away from the car park Camp has well and truly begun. We weren’t even out of Birmingham before the first sweets were being passed up and down the coach.

The Camp passed without a major hitch, and all the activities were enjoyed to the max. A day at the Zoo provided much entertainment. Mandy found more entertainment in helium balloons than animals and managed to loose 3 in the course of one day. A traditional favorite was included again this year; an afternoon at the ice-cream farm provided a much needed and slower paced activity. The sun came out letting us enjoy the ice-cream in a calm and leisurely manor!!! (Get out of here, this is a PHAB Camp - Christopher managed to eat one ice-cream and drink a semi-melted chocolate one, assisted by Clare who was trying to play head-shoulders-knees-and toes with Molly at the same time, it proved for a very sticky mess.)

There were, of course, many other activities during the week, some planned and others not so planned. We all descended on Nantwich for a quick swim, we of course made use of the gym and thoroughly enjoyed all the games on offer. It was another fantastic Camp with an amazing group of volunteers who rose to every challenge that faced them. The children were incredible and enjoyed most things. What an amazing week.
