Senior Camp 2006

Senior Camp once again headed to the Wingate Centre for another non-stop week of action!

The camp was split up into 4 teams and there was fierce competition between them all as they battled it out to be crowned the winners at the end of the week. Points were awarded in the photo challenge, in the quiz, at bowling, and for the treasure hunt as well as guessing the flavours of some unusual ice creams at the ice cream farm! It went down to the very last morning when PHABstars were announced the winners.

One of the highlights of the week was a surprise trip to Liverpool FC for a private tour of Anfield – some people still didn’t even realise that was where we going when we pulled up right outside the stadium! During the week everyone also got their chance to go quad biking, sailing, to try their hand at archery and go swimming. We also visited a falconry centre and were amazed to see the birds fly so close to us – one young lad even tried his best at communicating with them! At the farm everyone got the chance to hold rabbits (certain children and volunteers were quite unwilling to part with them after a while!) as well as trying their hand at grooming ponies, feeding pigs and milking cows.

The last night party theme was ‘Bad Taste’ and there were plenty of outrageous costumes to be seen, although it was hard to tell who was dressed the worst, the volunteers or the children! Mr Tinsel once again provided the entertainment which included one of the leaders being sawn in half and great fun was had by all. Everyone returned home completely exhausted but having had a fantastic week!
